The name Triquetra comes from Latin, it means "triangle" or "tricorne". These are three interconnected circular arcs, in some representations they are in a closed circle. The symbol itself is many thousands of years old and has been used by different cultures. It is likely that the Triquetra was a symbol of the Trinity for the Celts. One theory is that it represents the unity of birth, life, and death; another one is that it stands for the three (classical) Celtic elements earth, air and water.
